New research from Handelsbanken shows that nearly two-thirds of landlords have increased rents, 59% have become more selective about tenants, and one in five have sold properties as rising costs and the Renters’ Rights Act reshape the market.
The standout figure is that 84% of professional investors plan to expand their portfolios this year—up sharply from 54% in 2025. The trend is clear: less-prepared landlords are leaving, while professional investors continue to buy.
